About Double Bay Removals
White-glove removals across Double Bay and the eastern harbour suburbs of Woollahra Municipality. Specialists in pianos, fine art, antiques, wine and marble.
Double Bay Removals handles moves across the eastern harbour pocket: Double Bay, Bellevue Hill, Point Piper, Darling Point, Woollahra, Vaucluse, Rose Bay, Edgecliff and Watsons Bay. These are among Sydney’s most considered addresses, and the moves reflect it. The through-line across this catchment is the same on Cross Street as it is on Wolseley Road: the contents are often worth more than the truck, so the move is a white-glove, specialty-handling job first.
Moving in this part of Sydney has its own access realities. The Double Bay village grid is busy and kerbside space is competed for by deliveries, boutiques and foot traffic, so a loading position is planned and timed. The Victorian terraces of Woollahra are charming and heritage-listed, with tight internal staircases never built for a wardrobe. Point Piper homes step steeply down to the harbour, and Wingadal Place near the peninsula’s tip can leave a full-size truck with nowhere to safely wait. Watsons Bay’s narrow village streets mean we often run a smaller shuttle between the truck and the door. These are not obstacles, they are the job. We plan around them before move day, not on it.
What we move
Alongside full household, office and furniture removals, we handle the pieces that decide how an eastern-harbour move is planned:
- Grand pianos and upright pianos: carefully dismantled, padded and carried on the right gear through whatever stair the house has
- Fine art and mirrors: museum-grade wrapping, custom framing protection, and no tilting anything that cannot be tilted
- Antiques and heritage furniture: blanket-wrapped on the truck, with floor and doorframe protection through every shared lobby
- Wine collections: handled with care for temperature sensitivity and moved in climate-conscious conditions where the collection warrants it
- Marble and stone: large slabs, dining tables and bench-tops moved with the equipment and crew they actually require
If your move includes something irreplaceable, tell us when you enquire. It shapes the crew size, the truck and the timeline before we quote.
How we work
Plan the pieces first. Before we quote a move we want to know what the specialty items are. A grand piano in a Point Piper home that steps down to the water is a different day than the same piano in a flat-access apartment.
Match the access to the crew. Tight terrace stair in Woollahra, long harbourside carry in Vaucluse, shuttle-access-only in Watsons Bay: we bring the truck size, crew and gear the access actually requires.
Council permits where needed. For moves on Woollahra Council terrace streets where we need to hold the truck kerbside, we arrange the appropriate “Permit to Stand Plant” with at least 48 hours notice. For the eastern (Waverley) side of Rose Bay, where that permit is not available for large trucks, we work the timing and street scouting instead.
Protect the home as well as the contents. Floor runners, doorframe pads and banister protection as a matter of course, in the building as well as yours.
Honest pricing, no surprises. Our rates: $200/hr for 2 movers and a truck; $250/hr for 3 movers and a truck; $400/hr for 4 movers and 2 trucks. We quote based on your actual move, and we tell you if something we find in the planning changes the estimate.
